In this post on “Ways to Make Money” we’re going to be talking about one for sure way to make money, even if it’s just a little. The issue is that the process of making money this way can be very tedious. This way to make money is to write a book. I believe that deep down in all of us, there is the wonder of “What if I did write a book?” Well, why don’t you give it a shot? Let’s talk about it.
What is your goal or motive?
In other words, why are you writing the book? I truly believe that anyone that writes a book, that has the audience in mind (In other words you seek to provide great value or entertainment), will sell copies of their book. That’s all that you need, but you HAVE to do it for some other reason than money. You can write for money and trick people to buy your product, but when they see it has bad quality they may never buy a title that has your name as the author.
One of the most difficult tasks at being a first-time writer is finding a publisher for your book. The good thing is that Amazon has self-publishing that pays great royalties. It’s just up to you to create a book cover and so on. You can pick your price, marketing and everything! If you don’t write a book because you are worried a publisher won’t accept your work and you believe that you are too good for self-publishing, then that is your ego getting in the way of what could be your true success. Amazon can pay up to 70% royalties. If you price your book at $3 that is $2.10 per copy! Imagine if you sold 1,000 copies…or 10,000! If you do it because you actually enjoy it, I don’t see why you wouldn’t succeed. You will find a way.
Writing the actual content of the book can be a daunting task. It is in a way, but if you enjoy what you are writing about, you will look forward to writing for hours. Let your mind loose and write about something you are passionate about. It can take a while or it could just take a month. You won’t really know until you try. There are writers like the great Stephen King that finish books in a couple months and there are great writers like George R. R. Martin that take a lot longer. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Who knows, both sell very well.
So, take a shot at writing a book and if you don’t enjoy the process then it’s something you can cross out of your list. It’s better to try and know you don’t enjoy it than to regret that you never did try. Let me know in the comments below if you are going to take a shot at writing a book!
