We all have goals and aspirations. Even if we don’t think so, they are deep down in us. Naturally, as humans, we want to stand out. We want to have meaning in our life. Today’s topic is about those goals and aspirations. They may be so ambitious that you may believe it’s not possible or that it would take way too long to achieve. Let me begin by addressing those two points.
- You can do whatever you set your mind to.
- Success does take a long time.
Number two is something that keeps people from ever pursuing their goals. They just think, “Dang, that does seem like it would a long time. All that time and it might not work out. Maybe I should play it safe instead.” When instead they should be thinking, “How can I shorten that amount of time?” Today’s post provides an answer to that question and it is to CUT YOUR DEADLINE IN HALF.
Let’s think about that for a second. Whatever your goal may be, whenever it is that you have planned to have it finished by, cut that in half. What are you left with? Three years? Four years? Now think what you need to do to make that happen. You need to know your numbers to make that work, but let’s just make a hypothetical.
You are a real estate agent and you make 20 phone calls a day or 140 a week. Out of those you land a meeting for the listing agreement 10% of the time. That’s 14 meetings a week. Out of those you only land 10% signed. That’s 1.4 contracts a week or pretty much one a week or 52 listings a year. Say that the average home price you sell is $100,000. With a 3% commission, that’s $3,000 a home. $3,000*52 is $156,000 gross. Taxes and expenses will take a large chunk out of that. Now say that in two years you want to gross $312,000. Cut that in half and now you want that in a year. What do you need to do? You know your numbers from this past year. If anything, you got better at sales so double last years numbers and you should be able to make it happen. Even if it requires more work. (Which that will be the case.)
Do you see where this is going? Regardless of what you make your money from. Painting, bogging or streaming. Cut the deadline in half and you will reach your goals much quicker. Put in the work, my readers. Remember, success is right around the corner. It just wants someone that can commit and work. So, do me a favor right now and cut your deadlines in half. Let me know in the comments below how they look!
